who participated in the pre-election study (Version 2) and responded to
V439 and V519. Proportion of responses for each ideology
category: extremely liberal (2%), liberal (8%), slightly liberal (14%),
moderate/middle of the road (37%), slightly conservative (17%),
conservative (19%), and extremely conservative (3%). Proportion of
responses for Party ID: Democrat (33%), Republican (25%), Independent
(29%), Other, (1%) and No Preference (13%). Year 2004 data shows
responses from 903 respondents who participated in the pre-election
study and responded to V3085 and V3114. Proportion of responses
for each ideology category: extremely liberal (3%), liberal (12%),
slightly liberal (11%), moderate/middle of the road (33%), slightly
conservative (16%), conservative (22%), and extremely conservative
(4%). Proportion of responses for Party ID: Democrat (30%), Republican
(33%), Independent (32%), Other, (1%) and No Preference (4%). (Note: These figures do not include the 'don't know' category which was included in the previous table.)
